From behind the scenes, but in front of schedule, a cutting-edge communication center is produced.

Life in a newsroom production studio is said to be fast-paced, exciting, a bit stressful and anything but a 9 to 5 job. It seems the same could be said about building one in a fully occupied building on a tight deadline.

This project encompassed demoing the existing television studio/production classrooms and upgrading the entire space, including the set and accompanying technology – It also included renovating 3 classrooms, installing new air conditioning, lighting, furnishings, finishes as well as updating the hallways. Heavy on coordination and schedule, Milestone was charged with having the new space ready and operational for January2017 when the students returned from winter break.

Milestone worked closely with Creative Dimensions, a company that specializes in broadcast studio design and has created sets for ABC News and ESPN among many others. Daily coordination was critical in order to keep the logistics of equipment and construction in-line and on-schedule.

Tiered seating was built in the control room to provide students the opportunity to watch and learn about production in a real world setting. To accommodate the movement of equipment and materials during construction, a loading dock was built to provide direct access to the new studio. It remained post construction and now serves as the main access point for the movement of production equipment in and out of the space.
