Continuum of Care, Inc. helps more than 2000 individuals each year who are challenged with mental illness, autism, intellectual disabilities and/or substance abuse. Serving Connecticut and the greater New Haven area from their recently opened 30,000 sq ft headquarters in New Haven, The Grass Roots Deli was the final fit-out to be completed within the complex.
The deli’s mission is to serve the community with fresh, wholesome, creative and delicious foods while supporting Continuum of Care’s work toward rebuilding lives. This is done by offering a healthy dining option for an underserved neighborhood, providing vocational skills training for Continuum clients who might work in the deli, and also serves as a source of revenue for Continuum of Care’s operating costs.
Milestone delivered a full-service commercial kitchen that combines practicality with high-end finishes to create a comfortable eat-in environment that offers ease of maintenance. Highlight details include a live-edge elm counter top and a polished and stained concrete floor. Floor to ceiling glass provides for daylighting and an indoor/outdoor casual dining experience. As the building was fully occupied during construction, Milestone worked around the occupants 9-5 schedules and pulled a few Saturdays in order to bring the project in on-time and on-budget with limited interruptions.
